This year, we want to get into the Christmas spirit in our own special Ubilabs way: in the application we developed, users help Santa collect lost wish lists while experiencing the versatile possibilities of the Google Maps Platform in 3D. Our new interactive application combines Christmas magic with technological innovation.

On his journey through snowy landscapes, Santa Claus has lost some wishlists. The task: our users use the mouse to control our Christmas paper plane through breathtaking 3D worlds and collect the notes. Each level presents them with a slightly bigger challenge!

Whether you're in Hamburg, Munich, San Francisco or the snowy Dolomites, each level offers a wintery atmosphere with festive background music and light snowfall. You'll explore photorealistic 3D maps that recreate landscapes with impressive detail. Animations like the rotating envelope and the dynamic paper planes add a playful layer that makes the experience even more immersive. And all this is done exclusively with Google Maps technologies.
In addition, a special highlight awaits users after each successfully completed level: they can fly freely through the 3D world of the every location and explore the surroundings further. Discover new perspectives and be inspired by the snowy landscapes.
Technology meets creativity
Our 3D application shows how versatile the Google Maps Platform is – and all without the need for external tools or technologies.
- 3D models and animations: Rotating envelopes, swarms of paper planes and dynamic movements are based on mathematical calculations that are seamlessly embedded in the experience.
- Customized architecture: Familiar gaming architectures have been adapted to make them more efficient and save resources.
- New Google Maps technologies: Individual markers for our office locations, polylines and photorealistic 3D maps ensure an immersive experience.
We are particularly proud of the fact that the entire application is based exclusively on the Google Maps Platform. From the first draft to the final polish, we have exploited numerous features of the platform to create a unique gaming experience.
Our 3D application demonstrates how creativity and technical innovation can go hand in hand. By using advanced 3D visualizations and interactive elements, we have created a gaming experience that spreads Christmas cheer in typical Ubilabs style. It was important to us to use existing technologies in a new way to offer a distinctive experience.
