Franz Neubert Rocks the Front-end
Around 40 percent of our team are developers. Their skills are as diverse as our projects. Our colleague Franz Neubert for example currently focuses on the newest features at Mapbox. To keep concentrated, he loves to turn loud music on (via headphones, naturally).
Which is your position at Ubilabs?
I have been working here as a front-end developer since April 2016.
What do you do specifically every day?
My tasks are quite diverse: I implement planned features or plan new features. I research on technologies that we can use in our projects or get a general overview of new solutions. Of course, one of my tasks is to take care of existing code, to optimize it or to renew it. And in some projects, I also discuss directly with our customers about their projects.
What do you like most about it?
The research of new technologies is usually quite exciting. The successful optimization of code performance also always ensures great success.
What was your highlight here this year?
The Strand Surf trip we did with the entire company is definitely one of the highlights of the year. And an app for a large event, with which the spectators could better orientate themselves at the venue, was one of my favorite projects so far – although this is a tight race.
What do you particularly appreciate about Ubilabs?
The broad opportunities to improve ourselves and to get trained – like visiting conferences, time for research and our Friday projects* – the exciting projects and, of course, the nicest colleagues ever
Your recommendation for a delicious lunch at Sternschanze?
For me, as I am a vegetarian, Mamalicious is a must. On top, Umai and Slim Jims are my top locations.
If you do not work, ...
... I love to listen to loud metal concerts,
... I discover Hamburg by bike,
... I am “occupied” with video games on lazy Sundays.
*Friday projects: In general, Fridays are scheduled for research and projects outside the daily business.
