Google Maps turns into a platform

Google Maps Platform replaces Standard and Premium Plans

Google recently announced: Effective June 11, 2018, the well-known and widely used "Google Maps Standard Plan" and "Google Maps Premium Plan" products will no longer be offered to new customers and will be replaced by a new product: Google Maps Platform. While the individual APIs remain technically the same, the billing model and the modalities for use change.

What does this change mean to me?

This change also affects those websites that have been using Google Maps unchanged and without any authentication for years (so-called "keyless" use). Existing customers of the Google Maps Premium plan will also be switched to Google Maps Platform - but only at the end of the individual contract term.

We have compiled the answers to the most frequently asked questions about the new Google Maps model. Please read more on our detailed information page.
